žiga kranjc, the world number two, mugged by david marjanović in straight sets
So much for the pecking order. David Marjanović, sitting all the way down at sixth with 26 points, waltzed in and dismantled second-ranked Žiga Kranjc 6-3, 7-5 like the ranking was a printing error. Žiga had actually led their all-time series 3-2, but on this night the head-to-head lead read more like a threat than a comfort — David simply took it back, one broken serve at a time.
This stings for Žiga's title dream. He's still second on 37, but leader and confirmed rival Jan Hočevar (39) is grinning from the top, and Patricia Vehovec (36) is breathing down his neck. David, meanwhile, eyes Ziga Vukšinič (31) above him. Cheer up, Žiga — at least brother Martin lost too.
